TEJIDOS GUADALUPE
(Development and Community Service Association of Mayan
Women)
We
are 55 Kaqchikel women who live in outlying villages of San José
Poaquil, in the province of Chimaltenango. Our organization was founded
in 1983, with the aim of bringing together victims of the violence that
had been caused by the civil war. Currently, we focus on the following
areas, hoping to achieve a more dignified life for and the active participation
of all group members:
Backstrap and floor loom weaving and sewing
Organic agriculture
Basic goods store
Preventative and curative health
Training and educational workshops
